Wendy arrived to the shelter with a fractured back leg (tarsal fracture) after she had been hit by a car. Sadly here in Spain the Government does not provide any sort of medical or financial help for injured or ill animals, so Wendy’s only hope was donations from volunteers and sponsors, the operation of her leg was expensive, but successful. She is still sometimes holding up the operated leg, perhaps from instinct, perhaps from slight discomfort, however the surgeons have checked her several times and it has healed very well. Wendy might seem shy at first, but actually shy is full of lovely character! She gives you nose boops and little kisses very quickly when she realises that you are a nice person. She can quickly tell who loves her, and offers lots of love in return. Wendy gets along well with other dogs, she just wants to be approached gently, and then she blends right into the crowd. She gets a little bit frightened by big dogs at first, and lets out a bark or two, and then moves on. Here in the shelter, Wendy goes walking with other lovely podenos, and meets also different dogs like our collies in the dog park for socalization time. Wendy’s leg will most probably always stay a bit of a tender spot for her, so we are looking for a home for her, where she will have an active life, as a young podenco girl, but at the same time, she should not be going for 20 kilometer runs, better to have controlled walks and perhaps play time in the garden! Wendy loves to take yummy snacks from you hand, and comes to you for snuggles when you crouch down on the ground. She enjoys eating and wiggles her tail while having good food. Wendy would be happiest in a home with one or more kind dogs, who play mindfully, not to run over delicate Wendy, as she is so small and slender. Her shoulder height is 48cm. Medical reports available.
