Peanut
Peanut came to Triple A after being neglected by his first owner. Then he was adopted and returned.... After the second time in the shelter, he was living for more than a year in a foster home, from where he was returned after he bit a new gardener, most likely from fear, that he does not know how to deal with otherwise. Then he was again taken to a hometrial in a family with another dog and children, who he adores so much. He was enjoying his life in the family so very much, and he was doing excellent. One day he was unattended and got startled by the neighbour, he bit him and he was brought back to the shelter...... This little misunderstood dog has been brought to the shelter now 4 times. Is there really no home to keep little Peanut safe and help him with his fears and uncertainties that make him act this way with certain people? In the fosters and in the shelter, Peanut has always been living with other dogs, he could live with other dogs or be an only dog of the family. Peanut likes many of our volunteers, but he especially falls in love with some people, and then he shows them the absolute best side of himself. He loves to be touched and cuddles by his own people, but not by random strangers on the street. He likes his personal space, but don’t worry, he will ask you for strokes and to sit on your lap when he’s ready Peanut is looking for a family that will accept how he might behave around some strangers, a family who will keep him safe from humans who scare him. A home where he will not be put into this kind of a situation, where he thinks he needs to bite to protect himself. If you give him a chance and really get to know him, you will have a fantastic companion who will join you for adventures or chill on the sofa. He is an active dog who has a lot of energy for fun and games, and travels very well in the car. He’s intelligent, sets his boundaries and when you respect his boundaries, he will be a lovely and happy dog who enjoys life to the fullest. Peanut has been in a home with educated children and has been very happy living with them, however in case of families with (older) children, it would be necessary to have the opportunity to meet Peanut before adoption, to ensure that he is matching well with the children. Peanut would not be happy living in a home with small children, and for safety reasons we cannot rehome him with small children. He has a great personality, he just needs to find a home where he can live on his own together with you. Every time that he is brought back to the shelter, it will be a little bit harder for him to trust people again, and to open up his heart. But he is still waiting. Peanut is looking for a person who doesn’t have a huge social life since he will be more stressed around people, and we want to avoid making him feel unsafe. If you have a home with a garden, you prefer being home rather then going out a lot, if you prefer the company of a lovely peanut instead of many friends coming and going, then he will be a good match. If you are committed and willing to show this guy that there are people in the world who won’t give up on their pets and abandon them for simply reacting to scary situations he’s put in, please contact us to meet Peanut. His shoulder height is approximately 34cm.
