Gingie

Gingie is a very sweet boy, and he is more forward than his timid brother Dumbo was. Gingie is a Sharpei mixed-breed dog who arrived at the shelter at just 7 months old and is still here, so he has grown up with us. He is a very cheerful and friendly dog with everyone, always greeting volunteers with great happiness and jumping. Gingie likes to be around people and he also works well with other dogs. He is sociable with males and females, currently living with five different dogs. Over time, he has developed character and confidence from living with very active and sometimes dominant Malinois dogs. Gingie walks nicely on the leash but needs some basic training on obedience and also simple tricks trainings would be lovely for him, to build relationships and self-value. Although he sometimes pulls on the leash due to shelter stress and not having learned to walk alongside, he is attentive to his handlers and loves receiving treats, which facilitates his training and obedience exercises. He is very loving and happy, and will be a very enjoyable character when in a home. He likes cuddles and to be physically near to humans. He has no problems with being touched, checking his ears and paws. On his day out and about he was behaving very well, say the volunteers. He drove calmly in the car without making any noise, stays close to humans at all times, always responds to calls, and is eager to learn obedience. When passing by a group of loose dogs, Gingie made no issues at all — he just does a little sniff-sniff and then moves right on with you. Gingie is very playful and loves being in the nature running and investigating, and he is very motivated for obedience exercises (and clearly food motivated), and enjoys his grooming sessions and cuddles. Gingie would fit in any home, which will provide him with mental stimulation and regular exercise.
